Goodwood Festival of Speed

Sunday's tend to be motor sport days in the B household and today was no different!
We had very kindly been given tickets to Goodwood's Festival of Speed and we couldn't wait to get stuck in!

With slightly blurry heads after a night at the pub with neighbours, we set off early for a full day at Goodwood. Two hours and half a bag of popcorn later, we had arrived! The iconic Goodwood statue stood proudly in front of the epic house and helped guide us through the woodland paths into the festival.
The noises are incredible. Classic formula one cars, super bikes and super cars all line up ready to take their chances against the infamous hill climb lined with bails of hay. Helicopters and private jets sit by the entrance for anyone who has extremely deep pockets so we happily, walked past... *ahem*

Goodwood is a real chance for the normal and the rich to all mingle together. You have the opportunity to get up close and personal with every car in the show or even experience some pretty talented drivers putting stunning Land Rover's through their paces!
There was something for everyone today! I could be found sipping on Martini's in the Martini Racing bar, of course whilst Mr B was sitting in every car he could find. We made sure we checked out Williams Advanced Engineering who have co-created some epic Singer Porsche's. The crowds clearly loved the cohesion of classic and brand new.
The Formula One paddock is my comfy place. It's where I feel most comfortable and know what I'm talking about. It was great to see so many teams taking parts and interacting with the public.

We of course, went to find our dream cars - the cars we will most likely never own! Top of my list would be a 1968/69 Ford Mustang GT500, preferably grey! We couldn't find my specifics but we did come across some pretty close runners up. "Oh, to be flitting through the Italian hills in one of these bad boys!"

Men, women and children all seemed to be enjoying the festival. It's really open to all and is pretty accessible for wheelchairs. The vibe was really laid back but it really needed to be about 10c cooler! Walking around in sandals all day was a smidge tricky - I'm so glad I left my wedge espadrilles in the car! I spotted more than one lady trying to catch a glimpse of Jensen Button and rumours of Tom Hardy strolling around made me keep my eyes peeled!

Sadly, I didn't have any luck finding Tom (I think the other half was just as upset) so we decided it was time to head off. It's so nice to get out of the festival and not have to trudge miles back to your car, there were plenty of tractors ready to take all the tired and probably quite burnt, spectators back to their cars comfortably!
It's a seriously fun day if you love noise and action! There's so much for kids and adults alike, tickets are pricey but it's a serious festival (just without the music....)
Now, I will be taking a cold shower and moisturising the heck out of my sunburn!
