One of our fave spots...
MONACO!
We first visited Monaco for my 18th birthday and I've been in love with it ever since.
Being an F1 fanatic, going in April was so amazing as the track was set up and the preparations had started for the weekend long motorsport event.
We always fly with Easyjet from Bristol into Nice. Nice is the closest airport to Monaco but the transfer time is an hour by taxi. We always get great prices with Easyjet every time we go, we usually pay around £80 per person for a return flight.
So, you know I said the transfer by taxi was an hour?... If you chose helicopter, it's approx. 4 mins so... we got the helicopter!!!
Jumping on the helicopter really was a slice of heaven. We had the whole helicopter to ourselves and got a really amazing scenic view the whole way. You get flown into the Monacair heliport and then driven by private transfer to your hotel.
Knowing this by now, we booked into the Fairmont hotel. We chose a room on the hairpin as Mr B loves just sitting on the terrace watching the super cars hurtle past.
Fairmont hotel is a perfect base for visiting Monaco. It's slap bang in the centre of where you need to be. It has beautiful views of the sea, on the most famous hairpin in F1 history and is in easy walking distance to the casino and harbour.
We liked the Fairmont as it hosts a great variety of bars and restaurants. It actually has one of the best Nobu restaurants we've been too. Word of warning: If you don't like night life, Fairmont may not be the one for you - music blasts quite long into the night!
Every time we visit Monaco, BeefBar is one of the first places we'll head too on a night out. They cook some of the best beef dishes you can imagine and the best mash potato i've ever had in my life. There is a full list of options for your mash potato flavours! AMAZING!
Beefbar is a short drive away in Fontvieille. This is a great little bar of Monaco. A bit quieter, Monaco football stadium is situated here too. There's amazing little bars and restaurants tucked away on the harbour front with a great view up to the museum on the mountain.
I ordered the smoked chicken dish whilst Mr B ordered the sweet breads. Yup, sweet breads - he LOVED them. I didn't tell him what they were until after he'd polished off the plate! ha
Of course, this was followed swiftly by a chocolate dessert which disappeared in two minutes.
Of course, we visited all the shops I couldn't afford to buy anything in and sat drinking far too many glasses of cold, white wine whilst staring out over the beautiful views. We love food as I'm sure I've said before so as much as I love a designer pair of shoes or bag, we are more than happy to spend over £500 on a seriously incredible experience than something material.
It's great to be able to have both though, of course haha. After all, you need to fit in when in Monte Carlo don't you!
